NFO has several projects, all of which aim to improve the quality of life for young people in and around Takeo. Click the links below to find out more about what we do!
New Futures Organisation operates an orphanage caring for over 50 children and young people in Takeo. Full - time staff provide round-the-clock care and security for the kids, and the orphanage provides for their accommodation, food and basic needs, as well as ensuring they have an education and are fit and healthy.
NFO also aims to help young people to improve their skills so that they are better able to find a good job when the time comes. To this end, we operate an education and vocational training centre which helps teach these skills.
The latest project involves creating a small-scale farm in the grounds of the orphanage. We aim to produce food for the children to eat, as well as generating income by selling any surplus. The farm is also intended to provide opportunities for the children to learn about farming techniques, animal care and agriculture.
Another aspect of NFO's work takes place in the remote rural villages of Takeo province, where many of the children are not able to access the regular Cambodian school system. We have recently set up the first in a planned chain of rural schools, where visiting teachers can bring education directly to the people, enabling them to access the same opportunities as others.
NFO has a fleet of three tuktuks, decorated in the organisation colours, which operate in Takeo, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. These vehicles act as mobile advertising boards, promoting the organisation and attracting volunteers and donors, as well as providing a livelihood for their drivers. |
